Lunar Sourcebook : A User's Guide to the Moon
Published in Hardcover by Cambridge University Press (April, 1991)
Average review score:

When The Moon Hits Your Eye...A definite must-have for anyone interested in selenology (the geology of the Moon)- it is the (if not the, then close to) definitive book. Possibly a little dated, with respect to the information gathered from the Lunar Prospector and Clementine missions, but without a doubt, a superb text to have. Be warned, though - chunky and _very_ technical - not for the faint of heart.

The M3 in Depth. This small document gives a brief, yet complete description on the M3 Lee/Grant. The photo's are all real. And are very intersting. The book even goes over the change in all design and equipment through the years. It also has summary's of the use of the M3 in war. I was able to read this from cover to cover in a matter of an hour. Great fun. This is book 33 in a series of books from squadron.

Maternal Personality, Evolution and the Sex Ratio: Do Mothers Control the Sex of the Infant
Published in Unknown Binding by Routledge (E) (March, 1998)
Average review score:

academic detective story - great readCompassionate and humanistic, this book examines the academic evidence for the authorÕs hypothesis that a womanÕs body, personality and behavior determines the sex of the infant. This clearly written and easily accessible book reads like a good detective story. It takes the reader, whether university lecturer, parent-to-be or college student through the labyrinthine twists and turns of the latest studies in developmental psychology, evolutionary biology, animal behavior and reproductive physiology to the authorÕs simple yet profound conclusion: the gender of the infant is not a matter of chance, it rests with the mother. The book is a refreshing reminder of the need for dialogue between the different academic disciplines, and it is not accidental that such a book comes out of New Zealand, and that it is written by a woman academic, Dr Valerie Grant, lecturer in Behavioural Science at the School of Medicine, University of Auckland. The author combines academic rigor with a breadth of research and learning in a broad range of fields. While her conclusions will be controversial and unacceptable to many, both her hypothesis and her on-going research may shed a revolutionary light on one of the most fascinating questions every pregnant mother ponders: is it a boy or a girl?

McDougal's Honolulu Mysteries: Case Studies from the Life of a Honolulu Detective
Published in Paperback by Mutual Publishing (January, 1995)
Average review score:

MYSTERIES IN HAWAIIThis is a great little book for mystery lovers who also love a bit of supernatural "chicken skin" (goose bumps for us haoles) with their whodunits. Glen Grant is an engaging writer who has written about Hawaiian and Japanese ghost stories in his other books (which I also highly recommend!) Here, he weaves some of those stories in with well-written mysteries without sacrificing anything in believability. Some of the mysteries have supernatural overtones, others are more down-to-earth, but all are delightful! I, too, wish there was an Arthur McDougal in our world.

Megagifts: Who Gives Them, Who Gets Them

Average review score:

Well Researched and Well WrittenThis book was first published in 1984 and quickly became a classic. Panas calls up the experiences of well-known philanthropists, volunteers, educators, religious leaders, fund-raising experts, and others to underscore a primary principle of successful fundraising: technique is no substitute for a committed heart. Having said that, be sure to check out his 65 Tenets for Success.

Memoirs of a Highland Lady
Published in Audio Cassette by Canongate Books Ltd (07 November, 1994)
Average review score:

A personal look into the pastElizabeth Grant of Rothiemurchus' biographical volumes offer a very personal look into the past of Scotland (in the first book). Her account of her family's lives and what Scotland was like in the early 19th century would be fascinating to anyone interested in that country or interested in the lives of women of that era. In some ways she seems very contemporary and in other ways she seems very far removed from life today. But her memoirs offer a unique view of how life was lived that long ago and in a place so remote from the mainstream. I found the first book totally enthralling and look forward to reading the other volumes of her later life, after she married an Anglo-Irish landowner and moved to Ireland, and her later travels.
